ADHD Counselling in Salford, Manchester
Finally feel understood. Person-centred therapy from someone who truly gets it.
Hi, I'm Amy
I'm an ADHD counsellor based in Salford, Manchester and work online across the UK. I’m an ADHDer, LGBTQIA+ allied and disabled counsellor. When I sit opposite you in our session and say I get it - I mean it.
I understand ADHD from the inside. I know what it’s like to have a brain that goes 100 miles an hour. I work with you to build strategies and systems that work with your brain rather than ‘shoulds’ and ‘coulds’. As a therapist diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, I specialize in the often-overlooked nuances of neurodivergence. While research into ADHD in women and girls is still catching up, my work focuses on the vital connections between dopamine, hormones, and life stages—including PMDD and menopause.
I offer a holistic, gender-inclusive space where we explore the 'internalized' traits of ADHD that many have had to mask for years. With additional training in aphantasia, GSRD (Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity), and neuro-affirming practices, I ensure my clients receive care that is current, research-led, and deeply human.
I use a person-centred approach, which means our sessions are led by you and what you need. There's no agenda, no homework, no pressure to be anywhere other than where you are right now. Just a space where you can finally feel seen, heard, and understood. I’ll always work collaboratively with you and make suggestions or give ideas through an informed and researched approach.
Does This Sound Familiar?
You've spent years thinking you're lazy, messy, or just not trying hard enough. You've built up layer after layer of coping strategies and masks to get through each day, and honestly? It's exhausting.
Maybe you've recently discovered you might have ADHD - whether that's through a formal diagnosis or your own research — and suddenly so much of your life makes sense. But with that clarity comes a lot of complicated feelings: relief, grief, anger, confusion.
Perhaps you're struggling with rejection sensitivity, that overwhelming, sinking and all encompassing feeling when you sense you've been left out or got something wrong. Or maybe executive function is your challenge - knowing what you need to do but somehow never being able to make yourself do it.
You're not broken. You're not lazy. Your brain just works differently, I see how hard you’re trying.
How ADHD Counselling Helps
ADHD counselling isn't about fixing you - because you don't need fixing. It's about understanding yourself better and finding ways to work with your brain, not against it.
Together, we can explore:
Prioritising yourself and saying no: protecting your peace and energy levels
Recognising your feelings and communicating them to others: asking for what you need
Self-understanding: making sense of why you do the things you do, and letting go of the shame
Self-understanding: making sense of why you do the things you do, and letting go of the shame
Emotional regulation: managing the intensity of ADHD emotions without being overwhelmed by them
Rejection sensitivity: understanding those big feelings and developing ways to cope
Executive function: finding ADHD-friendly approaches that actually work for your brain
Relationships: communicating your needs and being understood by the people in your life

Questions You Might Have
How much are sessions?
Sessions are £40 for 30 minutes, £60 for 50 minutes and £90 for 80 minutes. I offer very limited concession and low cost spaces, when enquiring please let me know you are interested in these.
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis?
No. Self-diagnosis is completely valid. You know yourself better than anyone, and if ADHD resonates with your experience, that's enough.
What if I'm not sure if I have ADHD?
That's okay too. Counselling can be a space to explore that uncertainty without needing to have all the answers first.
How many sessions will I need?
That's entirely up to you. I find that clients really start to feel the benefit of therapy after around 6-8 sessions. Some people come for a few months, others for longer. There's no minimum commitment, I don’t take up front block bookings.
Can you diagnose ADHD?
No, I cannot diagnose ADHD. I would refer to guidance by ADHD UK on right to choose and private providers.
How is this different from regular therapy?
If you want to stim, draw, doodle, crochet in sessions - go for it. This space is designed to be as authentically you as possible. You can always ask for changes and adaptations.
